VACCINATION RECOMMENDATIONS:
As per Race Procedures C III 56, all dogs participating in a race shall be vaccinated according to the IFSS Animal Welfare committee's recommendations. The IFSS Chief veterinarian, as of April 16 2007, suggested that the mandatory vaccinations shall be: RABIES VIRUS, CANINE PARVOVIRUS, DISTEMPER and KENNEL COUGH complex (Bordatella parainfluenza virus and canine adneovirus 2). All dogs should be vaccinated within twelve months in all classes and more than 28 days in the case of primo-vaccinatoins. Vaccinations need to be done in conformity with the regulations in the country where the race takes place..

Drivers are responsible for making sure the rabies vaccination protocol chosen for their dogs is accepted in the country of destination. Please contact your dogs' veterinarian for information.
In view of differences in the sanitary regulations concerning the entry of dogs in the various countries throughout Europe (EU and non-EU) it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to revaccinate YEARLY to be sure to conform to the regulations in the country of destination.

Concerning Kennel Cough, drivers are reminded that kennel cough is not one disease alone but a combination of viral and bacterial infection of the respiratory tract: some of those infections are controlled with vaccine. It is necessary to vaccinate against: Adenovirus and Parainfluenza. In some cases Bordetella and Parainfluenza intranasal-vaccine might help as well, but be aware that they might cause mild symptoms of the disease, so you have to plan carefully your vaccine!

Furthermore, residents of EU countries must ensure their dogs have the correct sanitary passports as per Regulation (EC) No 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 on the animal health requirements applicable to the non-commercial movement of pet animals. For Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden and Norway drivers must ensure that their dogs meet the correct sanitary procedures applicable in these countries.

Finally drivers are reminded that their dogs must be identified by microchip at ESDRA EC's and Cup events.
